I have also considered doing this type of build on a Eee PC 1000 that I have lying around.
this would be a neat little retro computer

I think that installing a minimalistic Debian-based distro and then RetroPie would work fine for this purpose.

Thanks @meleu . I think it would be a cool little portable. I plan on giving it a try once I have time.

The Hatari version in RetroPie is 1.9.0 - see the install script for this emulator https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/blob/master/scriptmodules/emulators/hatari.sh. However, it might be only the hatari-wii has this feature implemented.

Ok, I tried turning off dithering, and it didn't seem to make any difference.

I'm still getting artifacts, like echo-type sounds, sounds that go on longer than they should etc.

I have listened carefully to games that I am very familiar with on other systems, and this definitely only seems to affect Hatari.

the pi1 b (512mb version) isn't to bad... and can run some PSX games...

I was able to play pac man world on it using the .cue/.bin extracted from the disk with no problems as well as a couple others (crash bandicoot and such)

though more graphic intensive games like Tony Hawk was unplayable...

and N64 on Pi1 was near impossible...

@BuZz Thanks mate. I don't know what I done....but played around with settings & now it doesn't freeze. Think it was something to do with memory!
      Appreciate your input.

@voodoorida said in STE emulation & swapping roms to another sd card:

I have now bought a 32gb SD card & downloaded a large (28gb) image with thousands of games. It has installed correctly.

Third party images aren't supported here. Especially those loaded with illegal material. (A) it's supporting piracy, (2) There's just too many variables to troubleshoot and (D) it goes against ape law. If you reinstall a fresh image from the RetroPie website, we'll be happy to help you troubleshoot any issues you may have.

@stoogesfan87 Don't re-open 3 years old topics, if you have an issue or trying get support, open a new topic and explain your problem, adding the info from https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.

      @groviar

I guess I'll need to experiment.

Your best source of information on this will be on the actual Hatari information pages, as it's the same emulator running here. If you get it going, report back and either you or I can add it to the RetroPie wiki.

to get it to work from ES, put it in the emulators.cfg launch line in /opt/retropie/configs/atari/emulators.cfg like SDL_VIDEO_RPI_SCALE_MODE=1 $md_inst/bin/hatari --zoom 1 etc

you can change the pixel aspect ratio also: (note these options are specific to our SDL2 - our SDL1 also has similar options)

      Docs:

/** * \brief Tell dispmanx to stretch the SDL window to fill the display. * * This hint only applies to the rpi video driver. * * The variable can be set to the following values: * "0" - Window resolution is desktop resolution. * This is the behaviour of SDL <= 2.0.4. (default) * "1" - Requested video resolution will be scaled to desktop resolution. * Aspect ratio of requested video resolution will be respected. * "2" - Requested video resolution will be scaled to desktop resolution. * "3" - Requested video resolution will be scaled to desktop resolution. * Aspect ratio of requested video resolution will be respected. * If possible output resolution will be integral multiple of video * resolution. */ #define SDL_HINT_VIDEO_RPI_SCALE_MODE "SDL_VIDEO_RPI_SCALE_MODE" /** * \brief Tell dispmanx to set a specific aspect ratio. * * This hint only applies to the rpi video driver. * * Must be set together with SDL_HINT_VIDEO_RPI_SCALE_MODE=1. */ #define SDL_HINT_VIDEO_RPI_RATIO "SDL_VIDEO_RPI_RATIO"
